Quick Ted poll:

Is Ted: A) organized or B) lazy?

The answer may shock you. It’s C) Awesome.

Well when it comes to the Internet, I am all of the above, thanks to a little site called Protopage.

Protopage

Protopage is, in their words: “… your own personal page, which you can access from any computer or mobile phone. Use it to read your own selection of news and blogs, keep to-do lists, sticky notes, and much more”.

Protopage is, in my words: “how I can be organized, lazy and awesome. ”

It works like this. Protopage is comprised of Widgets. A Widget is a chunk of code that does something. In this case, Widgets can be a collection of links, RSS feeds, photos, videos or any number of pre-made things, like weather reports, clocks, bible verses and cute sayings. Whatever you need, it’s probably there. You can rearrange the Widgets as you wish, and have them pull whatever data you want.

So how does this make me A), B) and C)? Take a look at a public page I put together to see what I mean:http://protopage.com/mehugtree#web/main

It makes me A) organized because it’s one central place where I put all the things that use online with some regularity. I have a list of links (“Links Panel”) I hit everyday, and news I read daily (“more news”).

It allows me to be B) lazy because through the magic of RSS feeds I only visit the website when the RSS feed shows that there is something that interests me. Like the “I’m Peepin” Widget is a collection of RSS feeds from Craigslist showing cars/trucks I’m keeping an eye out for- you never know when I’ll need another 4Runner!.

It allows me to be C) Awesome because, well, um, I don’t know. Maybe because it’s an easy way to share all the stuff that I’m doing? Like some videos and Photos.

So it’s pretty cool.

And it just got cooler. Now all these links/feeds that I gathered over the years are available on my iPhone! Yeah, and other phones as well. Whatever. Go read up on Protopage Mobile.

I recommend creating your Protopage from a regular ole computer first, then when you’re all set, hit it up with your phone to see what you got: protopage.com/mobile.
